HIGH ALTITUDE VINEYARDS WITH UNIQUE CLIMATE
Bodegas Señorío de Líbano has 48 hectares of vineyards, almost half of which are organic, located in the northwesternmost part of La Rioja Alta, specifically in the towns of Sajazarra, Vilaseca de Rioja, Galbarruli, and Castilseco.
The vineyards, which cover the entire production of the winery, include the varieties of Graciano, Garnacha, and Tempranillo, the most predominant. Most of the plantations grow in clay-limestone soils, which give the grapes finesse and delicacy, as well as enhance their quality and nobility.
Protected from the northern winds by the Obárenes Mountains, the vineyards gain a unique climate and extreme viticulture compared to other areas. It is on the slopes of these lands, at about 500-700 meters altitude, where the winery's emblematic estates are found: Galdara, Los Corrales, and Fuente Negra, which produce the most characterful reserve reds.
The cultivation techniques are designed to obtain the maximum expressiveness of the local grapes, which give great personality to the wines. Among the operations we practice in our vineyards are the absence of chemical fertilizers, the absence of irrigation, and the implementation of severe thinning and pinching of clusters to limit yields to the maximum.
The vineyard treatment is carried out either as organic cultivation, where the vineyard is treated with the utmost respect for the environment and recovering the values and origin of our viticulture, or as integrated production cultivation, where each treatment and operation aims to obtain the highest quality of the fruit.
