HIGH-ALTITUDE VINEYARDS WITH DISTINCTIVE CLIMATIC FEATURES
Señorío de Líbano Winery boasts 48 hectares of vineyard, nearly half of which are dedicated to organic farming, located on the northwestern side of La Rioja Alta, specifically in the towns of Sajazarra, Vilaseca de Rioja, Galbarruli, and Castilseco.
The vineyards, which cover the entire production of the winery, include varieties of Graciano, Garnacha, and Tempranillo, the latter being the most predominant. Most of the plantations thrive in clay-limestone soils, which endow the grapes with finesse and delicacy, in addition to enhancing their quality and nobility.
Shielded from the north winds by the Obárenes Mountains, the vineyards thus achieve a unique climate and extreme viticulture compared to other areas. It is on the slopes of these estates, at an altitude of about 500-700 meters, where the winery's iconic properties are located: Galdara, Los Corrales, and Fuente Negra, where the most characterful reserve reds are produced.
The cultivation techniques have been designed to maximize the expressiveness of the local grapes, which give the wines a strong personality. Among the practices we employ in our vineyards are the absence of chemical fertilizers, no irrigation, and the execution of severe thinning and cluster pinching to limit yields as much as possible.
The vineyard management is carried out either as organic farming, where the vineyard is treated with the utmost respect for the environment and recovering the values and origins of our viticulture, or as integrated production farming, in which each treatment and operation aims to obtain the maximum quality of the fruit.
